Public meeting: International students at work

On Thursday September 18 at 6pm the Student Housing Action Collective (SHAC) will host a public meeting to discuss the situation facing international students at work. The address is 272 Faraday Street Carlton.

The meeting will be held at the site of an ongoing occupation. Supporters of SHAC have recently taken possession of four double story terrace buildings in Carlton that have been lying vacant for three years.

The property is owned by the University of Melbourne and SHAC are currently in negotiations with the university to have the it turned into a student run housing co-operative.

Speakers on the night will include representatives from the Melbourne University Student Union, international students working as taxi drivers and Anthony Main from UNITE speaking about the situation facing 7-Eleven workers. UNITE encourages all of our supporters to attend.
