Great response to UNITE at Push Over
UNITE spent part of the Labour Day weekend campaigning amongst young people at the Push Over music festival. Our volunteers staffed an information stall and handed out hundreds of leaflets promoting the launch of our new campaign, Boost Our Pay.
Whilst most other unions are totally out of touch with the needs of young workers, UNITE found that our slogans against youth wages, against AWAs, for a $16 minimum wage and for secure hours really hit a cord.
In between the campaigning our volunteers saw some of Australia’s best local talent. Stand out acts on the day included Bliss n Eso, The Spazzys, Silverchair and local hip hop outfit Illzilla. We look forward to Illzilla’s set at the official launch of the Boost Our Pay campaign on March 30.

Illzilla (above) one of Melbourne’s best hip hop acts.
The details for our open air gig / demonstration to launch the campaign are 4-6pm Friday March 30 (last day of school term) outside the fast food strip on Swanston St in the City. Stay tuned to the UNITE website for more details to come.
