Say NO to the IR laws - Say NO to the G20

UNITE calls on all members and supporters to attend the main demonstration that has been called against the G20 meeting. The 2006 G20 meeting of finance ministers, reserve bank governors and heads of the World Bank and IMF will take place at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Melbourne on November 18.

This meeting is a forum for the big business elite to discuss corporate globalisation and how best to push their neo-liberal agenda of cuts, privatisation, free trade and workplace deregulation.

The meeting will be chaired by Federal Treasurer Peter Costello who will be proudly telling the forum about how successful the Howard government’s IR laws have been at cutting wages and slashing working conditions in Australia.

The main demonstration has been called for 12 noon on November 18 outside the State Library on the corner of Swanson & LaTrobe streets in the city. There will be speakers, music and then a march to the Grand Hyatt Hotel.

Come along and say NO to the G20 and NO to Howard’s IR laws. March with UNITE members who will be congregated around the truck / stage / first aid area. For more information visit the stopG20 website here
